Brief Course Descriptions
LDA 801 Teaching Tools:
Participants will define, explore, experience, and locate a variety of
teaching tools available on the Internet.
Participants will also create activities that can be used in the
classroom, TODAY!
LDA 802 Learning Stations
on the Internet: Participants will discover ways the Internet can be used
for research, extension, enrichment, enhancement, modification,
project/products, tutorials, and re-teach/review! Learn ways to use the Internet as an
interactive Learning Stations.
LDA 803 Literature on the Web:
Participants explore six steps to great
literature-technology connections. The goal of this class is to encourage
reading by showing the students author facts, themes and other interesting
information about books on the Internet. Participants can use this course
to help prepare information about authors, publishers, themes, and curricular
connections for their classrooms.
LDA 804 Internet in the Math Classroom: Participants will identify
web sites that can be used as resources for the classroom and how to create
activities that connect with the curriculum for web sites that are all ready created
for you.
LDA 805 Internet in the Science
Classroom:
Participants will locate games, activities, resources and other tools
for the Science Classroom. Many
participants enjoy viewing hands-on museums on the web. Participants explore ways to use the Internet
to enhance their Science curriculum.
LDA 806 Reaching the Reluctant
Reader: Participants define,
What is a Reluctant Reader? There
are two different types of reluctant readers - those who can read but don't
enjoy it and those who find reading so difficult that they avoid it whenever
they can. Both groups think reading is hard work so it's important to give them books which are really worth
the effort - strong stories that keep them turning the pages, humor which makes
them laugh out loud and non-fiction packed with fascinating facts about their
favorite interests.
LDA 807 Internet for
Early Childhood Educators: Participants discover a variety of ways to use the Internet in the Early
Childhood Classroom. There are MANY MANY websites for Early Childhood. Use the class to locate website for children…and
as a resource to discover ideas and information for the teacher. Participants can read articles and even
create activities for their students!
LDA 808 Internet in the
Fine Arts Classroom: Participants use the
Internet to locate lessons, activities, and online tools for the fine arts
classroom. The course is flexible and
offers options in the areas of music, visual arts, and drama.
LDA 809 Multiple
Intelligences on the Web: Identify basic
information about the Multiple Intelligences then build your resources
including “quizzes”, lesson plans, and Multiple Intelligences activities. Find ways to help students reach their full
potential, building on their MI strengths to access and improve their weaknesses.
LDA 810 Internet in the
Social Studies Classroom: Participants
will locate games, activities, resources and other Internet tools for the Social
Studies Classroom. Participants explore
ways to use the Internet to enhance their Social Studies curriculum.
LDA 811 Internet in the
English Language Arts Classroom: Participants will locate games,
activities, resources and other Internet tools for the English/Language Arts Classroom. Participants explore ways to use the Internet
to enhance their English/Language Arts curriculum.
LDA 812 Internet in the
Foreign Language Classroom: Participants discover a variety of ways to use the Internet in the Foreign
Language Classroom. There are MANY MANY websites for Foreign Language. Use the class to locate websites for your
students…and as a resource to discover ideas and information for the
teacher. Participants can read articles
and even create activities for their students!

LDA 813 Graphic
Organizers on the Internet: Use this course to build
your resource bank of Graphic Organizers.
Participants will locate, evaluate, and create a variety of Graphic
Organizers on the Internet. Participants
discover the thinking skills behind each graphic organizer and gain an
understanding of WHY graphic organizers are great learning tools!
LDA 814 Rubrics on the
Internet: Use this course to build
your resource bank of Rubrics.
Participants will locate, evaluate, and create a variety of Rubrics on the
Internet. Participants discover best
practice in regards to Rubrics.
LDA 815 WebQuests in the Classroom: A WebQuest is defined, by Bernie Dodge at
LDA 860 Booktalks in the Classroom: Participants in this
course will identify what a Booktalk is, then locate,
access, and create their own booktalks to use in
their classroom or library. Explore a variety of media to create Booktalks in order to motivate your students to read.
LDA 861 Digital Camera in the Classroom: This course will introduce participants to using digital cameras
in the classroom to enhance lessons and projects. Capturing digital images
brings a whole new dimension to teacher presentations and productions, as well
as student demonstrations, projects, and reports.
LDA 862 Creating Review Games using PowerPoint: This course is designed to help teachers create review games
using Microsoft Office PowerPoint. The
class is designed and directions are given for the program, Microsoft Office
PowerPoint. Participants will create “Jeopardy
like” games that they can use in their classroom.
